‘Yoga without the breath is just a circus’

During the retreat, you will learn unique techniques to experience a state of balance and create a sense of calm within yourself. Mastering those tools is a life-changing experience.

Our mission is to empower you as much as possible during the retreat in using those techniques so that at the end of it, you'll feel confident enough to continue using them in your daily life.

How do those tools and techniques work?

It’s actually very simple! Any time we feel stressed or anxious, our bodies activate our sympathetic nervous system - also known as the ‘fight or flight’ response.

Although this stress response is useful in some situations, we haven’t evolved to live constantly in a high-stress state. Unfortunately, this is what many people find themselves experiencing due to high-pressure jobs and busy lifestyles.

The yoga techniques we’ll be sharing with you will help you decrease your stress levels by activating your parasympathetic nervous system instead - the ‘rest and digest' response. Through breathing exercises, postures and meditation, your restorative nervous system will get activated, allowing your body to find deep relaxation and repair damage induced by stress.

Crete is a paradise destination for food lovers and the traditional Cretan diet has been recognized as one of the healthiest diets worldwide.

Nurturing our bodies with fresh homemade food is one of the foundations of health.

Emilie is a nutritionist as well as a Holistic Nutrition Coach and she has carefully created a tailor-made menu based on delicious traditional Cretan vegetarian dishes in keeping with the all-important yogic diet.

You will be served 3 meals per day made of freshly cooked ingredients. You will have the opportunity to test traditional Greek food cooked with love and olive oil. All meals will be vegetarian or vegan with lots of fruits, cooked and raw vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, peas, whole grains, locally made cheese and eggs.

All meals are sugar-free and cooked with extra virgin olive oil.

Meals will be served with water.

Between meals, you can enjoy as well tea and seasonal fruits.

If you have a specific diet (gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.) please get in touch and we will find a way to make it happen. If your diet requires us to purchase some specific ingredients which are not commonly available on the local market, there might be a small additional cost which will be estimated case by case.

Because we want you to be 100% satisfied with the food you will be served during the retreat, once your booking is confirmed, we will be sharing with you a small questionnaire to get to know your dietary restrictions and preferences.

The program is organised in such a way that gives you some time and space to relax and just enjoy the area.

On the first day, you can check in from 10 am onwards. The first yoga class starts at 11 am. If you miss it because your flight arrives later, no worries. You'll catch us up in the evening class.

Every day (except the first and last day) is structured in the same way;

07:30-9:30 Meditation and Yoga

We start the day at 7:30 am with a 30 min morning meditation followed immediately after by a 90 min. hatha yoga class.

10:00 Breakfast

The breakfast is served at 10 am, after the yoga class as it is not recommended to eat just before a yoga practice. However, if you are the type of person that needs to eat something before starting the day, you will always have some fruits or tea available in your guest house to have a light breakfast before the practice.

11:00-12:00 Thematic workshop

After breakfast, you will have a 60 min workshop. The aim of those workshops is to give you some tools to find more balance in your daily life. We'll talk about how to identify life imbalances, we'll talk about Ayurveda and your doshas or constitution as well as about plant-based nutrition.

Finally, we'll also give you tools and ideas on how to implement daily yoga and a balanced lifestyle in your daily life after the retreat. In the end, you will also get a bonus workshop on natural soap making and candle making.

12:00-15:00 Free time

After the workshop till lunch you have free time to do anything you like; walk in nature or in the village, rest, read, play with the animals on the farm...

16:00-19:00 Free time

After lunch, till the evening practice, you have again some free time.

19:00-20:30 Meditation and Hatha Yoga

The evening practice starts at 19:00 and is a combination of meditation and yoga. The evening practice is a soft and restoring practice so don't worry if you are afraid that you might run out of energy at the end of the day.

21:00 Light Vegetarian/Vegan Dinner

After the evening practice, you will be served a light dinner, such as soup, a salad or fruit. The reason is that we don't promote eating heavy meals at night as this may disturb your sleep and your health.

The class takes place without music and students are invited to keep silent as much as possible. We start sharp on time so make sure to arrive 5-10 min earlier.

Each class last 90 min and is structured as follows;

Michelle

I am a Sivananda Yoga Teacher & Holistic Health coach and it's been my lifelong mission to assist others in feeling good & to inspire positive change in their lives by being a living example.

I worked in Aviation for most of my career, traveling the globe as an air hostess.

Whilst managing a demanding job, I devoted my time, studies and energy to holistic practices, health coaching, spirituality and Classical Yoga practices to cultivate balance, resilience and abundant energy in this fast-paced chaotic world.

Travelling for so many years was the best education I ever received, observing the cultures, the people, and the energy of the different places.  From this, I made the decision to move back to Europe and live on the beautiful island of Crete leaving behind the corporate world and luxurious lifestyle to live a more value-based and conscious lifestyle that truly resonated with me.
